Building Surveyor / Development Monitor - Client side

Our client are a London based investment business that offer a broad variety of secured funding facilities. They have been on an exceptional growth curve over the last 5 years and due to this success they are looking to bring on board an additional Building Surveyor / Development Monitor to oversee and manage their development loan portfolio.

The Building Surveyor will be joining an established Development Finance team, based in exceptional central London offices, who have deployed over £800 million worth of investment predominantly on South East based residential mixed-use developments. As a client side Building Surveyor / Development Monitor you will undertake the due diligence on assessing and reviewing the external QS monitoring surveyor reports, reviewing the construction risk of existing developments and reporting back to senior stakeholders within the business. The role carries a good deal of autonomy with a mix of office and site based activity working with the developers through the project programme and draw-down phases and where necessary taking a more hands on role with problematic schemes.

The more detailed role will involve the management of their development loan portfolio by visiting sites to assess the projected and current developments in relation to the quality of work, organisational ability of the contractor / developer and adherence to programme and budget in order to identify areas of elevated risk to the client. You will also be responsible for managing external consultants, liaising with the Relationship Managers and reviewing the cost monitoring reports from external consultants.

Requirements:

  • MRICS with a degree in Building Surveying (or associated property degree)
  • Post qualified technical experience in Building Surveying / Project Monitoring or Project Management
  • Sector experience preferably within house building or within the residential sector with developments ranging between £1 million and £20 million.
  • Keen interest in the Financial Sector.
  • Confident and professional with the ability to liaise with developers and contractors.
